Pretty Built-ins

Love this vintage mix of items

Details are what make each room individual and unique. I often find that people will complete all of the big furniture pieces in a room, add in some lamps and art, and call it a day! The room is hardly finished at that point, one of the most important parts is what comes next! By adding books, art, lamps, decorative objects and personal meaningful items to space is what makes it special. Don't forget to add some form a greenery too, whether it be fresh flowers, plants or even preserved topiaries (I tend to kill any living plant so I opt for the occasional fresh cut flowers, but always have preserved topiaries). The items should be collected, so it doesn't look like you took a store display and plopped it on your coffee table. Add in items that are new and old to get unique, eclectic looking vignette's. Think of it as putting together little collections of items that work well with each other but vary in size, height, and style.

Subway Tile

I love a classic subway tiled wall - it's timeless! It works in the kitchen and the bathroom, I prefer either white or marble with a white or light gray grout. You can add detail with the size, color, grout, beveled or smooth face, and plenty of other options such as trims and moldings! Check out the current project that I am working on below:

For this project we decided on a "bone" (off-white) beveled 3x6 tile. The first piece of the renovation is complete - the floor! We chose a hexagonal pattern with a mixture of marbles. The vanity is an "Angora" Gray cabinet with a Carrara Marble countertop. For the walls we will be using C2 "Holiday" paint!
More photos as the project progresses!

Lucite!

 Lucite Table, Books, Fur Daybed...
Very Luxurious!

Mod Lucite Chair in Traditional Setting

A variety of Lucite chairs in the kitchen

Sputnik Lucite chandelier in this glam-neutral bedroom

 Tiny Lucite Table Lamp

Books, Lucite & Fur...what a great combination!

I love how the chairs almost look invisible here, hence being a "ghost" chair...
They look great with the chunky rustic table...unexpected.

Lucite partner's desk or game table with leather chairs....looks very sophisticated in this office/den.

This has been one of my all time favorite spaces, I always go back to this one. It's a wonderful mix of vintage items and with that little romantic chandelier, it's a great balance of masculine & feminine pieces. I'm also a sucker for a great bar cart...as seen on the left side of this pic.

Lucite can work with many different design styles, and can add an element of unexpectedness to a room. You will notice sometimes people use a fur pelt or throw to warm it up a bit, or leave it plain for a transparent effect. Depending on the setting the Louis Ghost Chair can be very traditional because of the actual style of the chair. You have to include a little bit of Lucite somewhere in your home!
